From Friday, July 21 to Saturday, July 22, 2023, the town of KRIBI, located in South-Cameroon, was chosen to launch Act 03 of the stop plastics and chemicals campaigns tours program.
During these days, we carried out capacity-building and sensitization activities on toxic chemicals such as PCBs and heavy metals like mercury, as well as beach clean-up activities in general and plastic bottle collection in particular.
It is important to note that the bottles collected with the assistance of the stop pollution association, estimated at around 700 kg, are recovered by one of the companies specializing in recycling and that we have trained 15 trainers and sensitized around 100 young people on the danger and the sound management of POPs and Mercury.
The remainder of this program will focus on well-defined activities to reduce the threat of chemicals, plastics and microplastics to which beaches, mangroves and the local population are exposed.
